U.S. Marines with 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment (V16), 2nd Marine Division, conduct an amphibious landing during the Marine Corps Combat Readiness Evaluation (MCCRE) at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Sept. 26, 2022. Unmanned and remotely operated vessels extend the capability of interconnected manned platform sensors to enhance capacity across the multinational force. Twenty-six nations, 38 ships, four submarines, more than 170 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 29 to Aug. 4 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. 110527-N-NN178-071SAN DIEGO (MAY 27, 2011) Sailors from Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 1 render honors after laying a wreath during a memorial service for Landing Craft Utility (LCU) 1500. The wreath was ceremoniously laid into San Diego Bay in memory of the Sailors who lost their lives aboard LCU-1500. LCU-1500 was hit by an enemy rocket during the Vietnam War, killing her 13-man crew, along with several nearby Sailors on Feb. 27, 1969 at Bridge Ramp in Da Nang, Vietnam.

The recently commissioned Littoral Combat Ship USS Minneapolis-Saint Paul (LCS 21) pulled into Naval Submarine Base New London (SUBASE) to replenish supplies. Littoral Combat Ships are a fast, agile, mission-focused platform designed for operation in near-shore environments yet capable of open-ocean operation. It is designed to defeat asymmetric "anti-access" threats and is capable of supporting forward presence, maritime security, sea control, and deterrence.
