The Kushan Empire originally formed in the early 1st century CE under Prince Kujula Kadphises in the territories of ancient Bactria on either side of the Oxus River in what is now northern Afghanistan, southern Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. During the 1st and early 2nd centuries CE, the Kushans expanded rapidly across the northern part of the Indian subcontinent at least as far as Saketa and Sarnath near Varanasi (Benares) where inscriptions have been found dated to the first few years of the era of the most famous Kushan ruler, Kanishka, which reportedly began about 127 CE. The Kushan kings were a branch of the Yuezhi confederation (possibly intermarried with local families) and they had diplomatic contacts with Rome, Persia and Han China. The empire declined from the 3rd century and fell to the Sassanid and Gupta empires.

The detailed spurs on their claws suggest they were used for sport. Above their backs are hunting dogs.. Fragment of Wall Hanging with confronted cocks and running dogs. Coptic. 4th-6th century. He hates people talking..Pass on in quiet and in order..He, Nebamun, the scribe and counter of grain of Amun knows all. A photograph taken within Tomb KV1, located in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt, used for the burial of Pharaoh Ramesses VII of the Twentieth Dynasty. Although it has been open since antiquity, it was only adequately investigated and cleared by Edwin Brock in 1984 and 1985. The single corridor tomb itself is located in Luxor's West Bank and is small in comparison to other tombs of the twentieth dynasty. Usermaatre Setepenre Meryamun Ramesses VII (also written Ramesses and Ramesses) was the sixth pharaoh of the twentieth dynasty of Ancient Egypt. He reigned from about 1136 to 1129 BC and was the son of Ramesses VI. The decoration within the passageway of the tomb contains illustrations from the Book of Gates, the Book of Caverns as well as the Book of the Earth. The walls of the burial chamber are decorated with extracts from the Book of the Earth.
