Date: ca. 1st century B.C.-A.D. 1st century.This terracotta plaque features a figure reclining on a couch covered with a herringbone and stripe pattern. Identifiable as male due to his clothing, trousers and a belted, knee-length tunic, he is beardless, wears disk-shaped earrings and holds a cup in his left hand. His torso is angled so that the whole figure is seen from the front. Only a few other terracotta examples of figures in Parthian clothing exist, such as riders on horseback, soldiers, and musicians. Greek terracottas often feature reclining figures, usually males. The use of the pose among ancient Near Eastern plaques and figurines may indicate ties to Greek terracotta manufacturing centers along the eastern Mediterranean coast, although they typically depict females. Fragment of a Vase Depicting Berenike II 246-221 B.C. Ptolemaic Period Ptolemaic oinochoai (wine-jugs) with portraits of the queens were libation vessels associated with the royal cult, most likely with the Arsinoeia, the festival established in honor of Arsinoe II. On complete examples, the figure of the queen pours a libation at a sacrificial altar with a sacred pillar standing behind her, a scene which suggests that underworld gods are addressed, possibly funerary gods. The ritual use of faience and stylistic features are indicators of the influence of traditional Egyptian culture on the type.A good many fragments of such vessels are preserved, many from Alexandria, some from a few other sites in Egypt and from around the Mediterranean. They might have been distributed or purchased for use at the festival, and may well have acquired other uses, including a funerary association, since a number of examples were found in cemeteries. Date: 425-400 B.C..The presence of both a diadem and a himation (cloak) drawn over the hair suggests that this small exquisitely carved head represents a female divinity such as Hera or Demeter. It may have belonged to a figure that was part of a high relief or the pediment of a small building. Head of Ptah ca. 1550-1070 B.C. () New Kingdom or later The sculpture is a partially preserved head of the god Ptah, made from Egyptian blue with traces of gold leaf on the face. Ptah can be recognized thanks to his close fitting skull cap and (the negative of) his false beard, whose straps can be seen along the jaws. God of the city of Memphis, Ptah was primarily associated with arts and crafts. It is assumed that he acquired his designation as creator god through this close connection with crafstmen, builders, and artists. The gold leaf applied on the face refers to the substance of the divine body, composed of precious materials, gold being the flesh of divine beings. The combination of Egyptian blue and gold is reserved for special pieces and makes this little head a luxury version of the faience and bronze votive offerings deposited within temples.. Such sculptures, symbols of one's devotion to the gods, represented the constant presence of the worshiper in the temple. This votary, one of many unearthed at the temple of Golgoi, was made during the archaic period, which lasted from the late 6th to early 5th century B.C. Common characteristics of archaic Greek sculpture, as shown in this figure, include the faint smile commonly referred to as an 'Archaic smile,' almond-shaped eyes, and stiff, static pose.

These characteristic knots of scarves help date the sculpture to the Sui dynasty. The figure represents some important changes in Buddhist art in China. It exhibits a new fashion for elaboration and ornament that emerged at this time. Limestone priest end of the 6th century B.C. Cypriot The base and feet are modern; the bird is heavily restored and probably does not belong to he sculpture. The tresses on the shoulders, draping of the garments, and slight smile indicate the progressive influence of eastern Greek sculpture on that of Cyprus during he sixth century B.C. he figure's headgear, however, demonstrates the persistence of indigenous traditions. Indeed, here it is particularly remarkable, with the vertical zones of lotus motifs and the head of a bull at the top. Traces of pigment indicate that the figure was once painted. On his left shoulder are remains of a Cypriot syllabic inscription that have been read as "of the Paphian Goddess." Meritaten also spelled Merytaten or Meryetaten (14th century BC) was an ancient Egyptian queen of the eighteenth dynasty, who held the position of Great Royal Wife to Pharaoh Smenkhkare, who may have been a brother or son of Akhenaten. Her name means 'She who is beloved of Aten', Aten being the sun-god her father worshipped; Meritaten also may have served as pharaoh in her own right under the name Ankhkheperure Neferneferuaten. Meritaten was the first of six daughters born to Pharaoh Akhenaten and his Great Royal Wife, Nefertiti. Her sisters are Meketaten, Ankhesenpaaten, Neferneferuaten Tasherit, Neferneferure and Setepenre. She is known to have later married Pharaoh Smenkhare. There are no known children, but the young girls named Meritaten-tasherit and Ankhesenpaaten-tasherit are sometimes conjectured to be the daughters of Meritaten and Smenkhare.

Statue of Meleager 1 CE-199 CE Roman Empire. The statue depicts the legendary Greek hunter Meleager, who earned his fame by killing a ferocious boar that terrorized the people of Calydon. About forty Roman sculptural representations of Meleager survive, leading scholars to conclude that there was likely an earlier Greek statue on which they are based, presumably by the architect and sculptor Skopas of Paros, who incorporated a marble relief depicting the Calydonian boar hunt on one of his buildings. However, none of the ancient authors who wrote about Greek sculpture mention that Skopas created a large-scale, three-dimensional statue of Meleager, so the attribution to him is uncertain.. Marble .
