Emperor Trajan, Trajan's Column, Rome. Trajan's Column was raised by Apollodorus of Damascus by order of the Senate. It is located in Trajan's Forum, built near the Quirinal Hill, north of the Roman Forum. Completed in 113 AD, the column is carved in low relief with a narrative of the emperor Trajan's two campaigns in Dacia (modern Romania). The artist is unknown.

Marble tombstone of a woman. Made in Athens about 430-410 BC Said to be from Thebes. The inscription about names the seated woman as Glykylla; she is shown adjusting her bracelet while her young maid opens a casket, presumably containing some of the dead woman's jewellery.

Interior views focus on the apse and side chapel frescoes. In the apse: St. Mary Magdalen, St. Apollonia, St. James and two of his miracles, the Coronation of the Virgin. In the Cappella S. Sebastiano: St. Sebastian, St. Roch and Pope Gregory (1528 frescoes by Lo Spagna). To the right of the apse: the Madonna, Angels, Saints Peter, Anthony Abbot, and Bartholomew. Also views of altar paintings, reliquaries, gilt crucifix, and two wooden candle holders/statues of boys (17th century). Object Notes: Hutzel made two photo campaigns of this church, first on February 7, 1982 and then on January 31, 1983. There are only 50 different views for the 82 prints. Allegory of History, with Time. Artist: Vittorio Maria Bigari (Italian, Bologna 1692-1776 Bologna). Dimensions: 21-1/16 x 16-3/4 in. (53.5 x 42.5 cm). Date: 1761.The allegorical figure of the History is represented as a winged figure looking backward as she writes on a tablet supported by Time. In a letter of November 16, 1987, Professor Renato Roli kindly assured the Museum that the old annotation on the verso of the drawing is accurate. Thus, the drawing is a study for one of the allegories painted in chiaroscuro on the walls of a room on the ground floor of the Casa Bovi Tacconi in Bologna, now used as a photographic studio. Most of the wall frescoes have disappeared under layers of whitewash. Only two allegories have survived, although heavily repainted, and Roli points out that in one of these chiaroscuri, facial types and framing motifs are comparable to the Museum's drawing. Bigari's ceiling fresco, representing Apollo crowning a figure of Painting, is intact (Roli 1977, pis. 6
