Hercules dressed in the tunica of Deïanira, Joseph Mulder, 1688 print Hercules has attracted the poisoned tunica that his wife Deïanira sent him. She was under the assumption that the tunica had been covered by Nessus with a love drink, but the tunica turned out to be poisoned. Jupiter, standing on a piercing stable, turns his face off the begged Hercules. In the background people watch frightened and Deianira commits suicide. On the right in the foreground are the attributes of Hercules: the lion skin, the club and a laurel wreath. On the clouds of angels with trumpets, on which banners hang. There German-born photographer and scholar Max Hutzel (1911-1988) photographed in Italy from the early 1960s until his death. The result of this project, referred to by Hutzel as Foto Arte Minore, is thorough documentation of art historical development in Italy up to the 18th century, including objects of the Etruscans and the Romans, as well as early Medieval, Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque monuments.
