Frank Beresford's Lying-In-State Painting Almost CompletedTo Enable Beresford to get the Details as true as possible, one of the Yeomen who guarded the catafalque has come to the artist's St. John's Wood Studio. Almost unnoticed by the Mourning Public at the Lying-in-state of the Late King at Westminister Hall was artist Frank Beresford. The Duchess of Kent, painted in the garden of her home Coppins, at Iver, Bucks, at the Ohana Gallery, where this painting is one of the 50 by this artist now on show.50 recent paintings and portraits by Rumanian artist Dimitri Berea, are being shown at an Exhibition which opens today at the Ohana Gallery, Carlos Place, Grosvenor Square. This exhibition, which runs until March 20th., gives the public an opportunity of seeing examples of Berea's "landscape of people, and portraits of landscape" carried out in his own distinctive style. Larry Rivers (August 17, 1923 - August 14, 2002) works in his Chelsea Hotel studio in Manhattan, 1964. Rivers, born Yitzrok Loiza Grossberg, began as a jazz saxophonist and was a contemporary and friend of Miles Davis. As a painter, he produced pop art that bordered on the abstract and became one of America's most important postwar artists.
