James Dean (1931-1955). Dean's fame is based on three movies, East of Eden, Rebel Without a Cause and Giant. With the success and earnings of East of Eden he purchased a Porsche (one of two) which he raced in-between shoots. After finishing his work on Giant he headed out for an important race in his Porsche Spyder 550 and at the intersection of Routes 46 and 41 near Cholame he collided with another car instantly dying on September 30, 1955 at the age of 24.
