Shatou porcelain Sint-HelenaArchitectural Fitting (Gong) Made 770 BCE-481 BCE China. This is one of sixteen hollow bronze fittings in the museumís collection that together comprise rectangular, L-shaped, and cylindrical pieces. In 1973, fittings of similar shape and design were excavated from the site of a palace of the 7th century B.C. in modern-day Fengxiang, Shaanxi province in north China. Most show tightly interlaced surface patterns like those cast in this piece. Archaeologists have conjectured that these fittings, some of which preserve traces of wood, originally served as collars and sleeves that had been socketed over a framework of timber columns and tie beams embedded into the earthen walls. Some of these pieces may originally have been stuffed with silk to tighten them.. Bronze .COLMENAS - 1996-1997. Author: JOSE MARIA SICILIA. (21.3 x 12.2 x 3.7 cm), Wood, metal, organic materials, Democratic Republic of the Congo, 20th century, This instrument is properly called a lamellophone, but most people call it something much more evocative: a thumb piano, as its metal keys (the lamelles) are played with the thumbs. Very popular and widespread in traditional Africa, it has been reinvented in urban settings as a large, electronically amplified instrument.Scholar's Rock, 18th century, 7 5/8 x 8 1/8 x 5 3/16 in. (19.37 x 20.64 x 13.18 cm), Lao-shan stone, China, 18th century, In China, this type of stone is typically called Lao-shan hai ti yu (Lao-shan jade from the ocean floor) or simply Lao-shan lu shih (Lao-shan green stone). Such stones are composed of serpentine and were retrieved from the waters off the coast of Mount Lao, northeast of Ch'ing tao in Shantung province. Lao-shan stones are usually deep green in color with black veining. Appreciated for its resemblance to dark green jade (nephrite), Lao-shan stones were popularized during the Ch'ing period by the painter and calligrapher, Lao Feng han (1683-1749). A noted collector of scholar rocks, Gao, born and raised in Shantung, spent his last decade at his ancestral home researching and collecting products of his homeland including Lao-shan stones.Sweden, Scania, Malmo, Lilla Torg square area, head sculpturesDisplay of medieval weapons and armors in the Festungsmuseum fortress museum, Festung Hohensalzburg fortress, Salzburg, Austria, EuropeTORRES DE ZUECOS O ALMADREÑAS YA ACABADOS.
