Ink Tablet with Peach Tree late 19th-early 20th century China Ink for calligraphy and painting was made from soot mixed with a binding medium and formed into ink tablets, which were then ground with water to yield the liquid ink. Ink tablets were among the objects especially treasured and keenly appreciated by Chinese scholars.This ink tablet is decorated with a design of a peach tree, symbolic of longevity. An inscription indicates that it was made in 1576 in the workshop of Fang Yulu (active ca. 1570-1619) under the supervision of Cheng Dayue (Cheng Junfang, 1541-ca. 1616), both famous inkmakers. The Florence Baptistry or Battistero di San Giovanni (Baptistry of St. John) in Florence, Italy. The octagonal Baptistry stands in the Piazza del Duomo and was built between 1059 and 1128. The architecture is in Florentine Romanesque style. The Baptistry is renowned for its three sets of artistically important bronze doors with relief sculptures.

The Baptism in the river Jordan (mould with original impression). In the Middle Ages many cheap, simple religious items were produced, such as this terracotta pax. The mould was created directly from the costly ivory pax adjacent. While the scene of the baptism of Christ is an exact copy, the heraldic shield is omitted. This group of three objects shows how luxury works of art inspired cheap serial products.

Three of the soldiers guarding the tomb have sunk into deep sleep, while three others look on in wonder at the miracle taking place before them. The city of Prague is visible in the background; in this way the divine becomes part of daily reality.

Fragment of hearth plate with Justitia, Anonymous, 1600 - 1700 Right part of a fireplace of cast iron. Justitia is central, recognizable by the scales and the sword in her hands. A few domes can be seen in the background. The fireplace is closed with a column on both sides. The top is closed with a three -pass motif with an angel head and rank motifs. Fully on top, three buttons have been applied. The bottom edge of the fireplace is damaged and is torn from the top of the left column, via the left side of the Justitia robe, to the lower edge, so that the fireplace plate consists of two parts. These extremely rare paper tiles” were made for a company that also produced molded tiles. The very convincing paper versions of glazed earthenware tiles were probably made by pressing paper on an actual ceramic tile and then painting and lacquering them.
