Journey from the soul to God and Hell according to Bonaventura; Heavenly staircase of the Holy Bonaventura with hell. This print shows the steps in the journey of the philosophical soul to God, according to the teachings of Saint Bonaventura. Bonaventura kneels together with Keurvorst Frederik of Saxony and two groups of men and women in prayer at the bottom of the ladder or stairs that symbolizes this journey from the soul. The ladder is composed of text tires with fragments from the doctrine of Bonaventura. At the top of the ladder a medallion is shown with the holy trinity, surrounded by the symbols of the four evangelists. Left and right in heaven the trinity of all deductions worshiped the trinity. At the bottom of the ladder there are two demons as reference to hell underneath where the damned in the purgatory resides. The print is printed with multiple logs.
