Binglingsi Shiku (Thousand Buddha Caves) is a collection of caves and grottoes set in an inaccessible canyon by the Yellow River about 80km upstream from Lanzhou. The site's very isolation has protected and preserved Binglingsi, not least from marauding Red Guards during the Cultural Revolution (1966 - 76). The first Buddhist grottoes at Binglingsi date from the Eastern Jin Dynasty (c. 317 - 420 CE), and construction continued for well over a thousand years throughout the Tang, Song, Ming and Qing eras. The Bingling caves were often sponsored by wealthy patrons investing some of their Silk Road profits in accruing merit for this life and the next. A total of 183 caves, together with nearly 700 carved stone statues and 82 terracotta sculptures survive, many showing very clear evidence of South Asian Buddhist artistic influences - indeed, art experts agree that Binglingsi is a stylistic midpoint between the former monumental Buddhas of Bamiyan in Afghanistan, and grotto complexes further

The Garuda is a large bird-like creature, or humanoid bird that appears in both Hinduism and Buddhism. The Garuda is the mount (vahana) of the Lord Vishnu. Patans Durbar Square is the best preserved of the three Durbar Squares in the Kathmandu Valley, the one least changed from its original form. On the square itself, which measures about 160 by 70 metres at its widest, there are some 30 monuments, including the extensive old palace complex, and another 30 can be found in the immediate vicinity. In addition, all around, craftsmen conduct their business in ways little changed in centuries.

Emperor Ojin became the crown prince at the age of four. He was crowned (in 270) at the age of 70 and reigned for 40 years until his death in 310. He supposedly lived in two palaces both of which are in present day Osaka. Ōjin is traditionally identified as the father of Emperor Nintoku, who acceded after Ōjin's death. Ōjin has been deified as Hachiman Daimyōjin, regarded as the guardian of warriors. The Hata Clan considered him their guardian Kami. The actual site of Ōjin's grave is not known, but he is traditionally venerated at a memorial Shinto shrine (misasagi) at Osaka. The Imperial Household Agency designates this location as Ōjin's mausoleum. It is formally named Eega no Mofushi no oka no misasagi.

Wat Chalong in Phuket's Chalong District is delicated to two highly venerable monks, Luang Pho Chaem and Luang Pho Chuang, who were famous for their work in herbal medicine and tending to the ill. During the Phuket tin miners rebellion of 1876, they mobilized aid for the injured on both sides. They also mediated in the rebellion, bringing the warring parties together to resolve their dispute.
