Little is known about Al-Jazari, and most of that comes from the introduction to his 'Book of Knowledge of Ingenious Mechanical Devices' (Kitab fi ma'rifat al-hiyal al-handasiyya). He was named after the area in which he was born, Al-Jazira, the traditional Arabic name for what was northern Mesopotamia and what is now northwestern Iraq and northeastern Syria, between the Tigris and the Euphrates.

From an illuminated Ottoman dua kitabi or 'prayer book' by Hasan Rashid (Istanbul, 1845) once the property of a Topkapi harem lady. The Arabic term 'du'a' is generally translated into English as 'prayer', though a more exact rendering would be 'supplication'. The term is derived from an Arabic word meaning to 'call out' or to 'summon', and Muslims regard this as a profound act of worship. There are many different ragas, and over the centuries they have been organized into categories, described as families, in which related musical themescalled raginisare considered the wives of a raga, and still otherscalledraga-putrasare considered the raga’s sons and daughters. Each raga is associated with an emotional state and a time of the day and year. Poets imagined brief narratives to capture the feeling

Taksin (Somdet Phra Chao Taksin Maharat; Thai: มเด็จพระเจ้าตากินมหาราช; Chinese: 鄭昭; pinyin: Zhèng Zhāo; Teochew: Dênchao; Vietnamese: Trịnh Quốc Anh) ; (April 17, 1734 - April 7, 1782) was the only King of the Thonburi Kingdom. He is greatly revered by the Thai people for his leadership in liberating Siam from Burmese occupation after the Second Fall of Ayutthaya in 1767, and the subsequent unification of Siam after it fell under various warlords. He established the city Thonburi as the new capital, as the city Ayutthaya had been almost completely destroyed by the invaders. His reign was characterized by numerous wars, fought to repel new Burmese invasions and to subjugate the northern Tai kingdom of Lan Na, the Laotian principalities, and Cambodia. He was succeeded by the Chakri dynasty and the Rattanakosin Kingdom under his long time friend King Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke (Rama I). Although warfare took up most of King Taksin's time, he paid a great deal of attention to politics, admi
