Unlike the 1851 Exhibition which was an international one, the Festival will be an exclusively British affair, demonstrating the interaction of the land and people of Britain on each other, and the resultant contribution to world Civilisation. E. ***** Canberra on Friday and is reported to have criticised the ban, emphasising the serious effect it would have on Australia's own exports and imports. Modification of the ban on the lines that will be suggested at tomorrow's ACTU executive meeting would free cargoes of glass, jute, linseed oil and cotton goods, due to arrive soon in Dutch ships, and exports of Australian wool and foodstuffs to Europe. The decision which was made by unions with both Left and Right-wing affiliations, embarrassed the Federal Government, which had declared a neutral attitude to the fighting between Dutch troops and Indonesian Republicans. Bullet - Ridden Warning To Publisher Of "Man Who Killed Hitler" Book -- Putnam holding the bullet ridden copy of the book "The Man who killed Hitler".Some weeks ago a book was published in New York by a usually Reputable firm claiming that her Hitler had been killed on the Night before the Munich conference. It claimed to be written by one of the doubles taking der fuether's Part. George palmer Putnam, husband of the late Amelia earhart was the publisher. He was had three ***** warnings. The last was a bullet-ridden copy of his *****. May 15, 1939.

Shaw's Boswell - Frederick Loewenstein consults a volume from his library, Archibald. Henderson's "Shaw, playboy and Prophet"; every book is either by Shaw or has some bearing on him. Dr Loewenstein has the nearest thing to a complete collection of Shaw's writings that there is in existence, books, magazines old and new, tattered newspaper. He is a constant customer of secondhand booksellers; his bibliographer's eye has sought out many treasures, including valuable first editions. Behind Dr Loewenstein, in the corner, hang a pair of woollen mittens, saved from Shaw's wastepaper basket when he had done with them (victim of had circulation, he wears them to keep his hands warm while writing).
