The association provides many services including physiotherapy, basic education and referrals for further medical and rehabilitative management for more then 990 persons living with disabilities of all ages. The community service project is part of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Malaysia 2012. CARAT is a series of bilateral military exercises between the U.S. Navy and the armed forces of Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Timor Leste joins CARAT for the first time in 2012.

In partnership with the Al-Amal volunteer group, USAID enabled the renovation of six schools for girls in Nasiriyah, capital of Dhi Qar province. The focus on upgrading restroom facilities, repairing floors, and replacing damaged desks was determined jointly by city educators, parents, community leaders, local and provincial officials, and civil society organizations. By creating a welcoming educational environment in Nasiriyah, USAID is helping to ensure that every child has a chance to succeed.
