His annual wage was PLM 70.00 and he wanted to see this raised on FL 85. However, the increase was refused. The letter is admired at the exhibition. Three original members of the Australian Broadcasting Commission staff, which is 21 years old to-day, "interviewing" each other yesterday at a microphone made in 1927.They are Mr. Roy Glenister (left), Mrs. Hilda McGown, and Mr. George Gardiner.Mr. Glenister was with The Broadcasting Company, Perth, when the ABC came into being on July 1, 1932, and took over ***** company. He came to Brisbane in 1946, and is now acting manager for Queensland.Mrs. McGown and Mr. Gardiner were both with the old Government-controlled Australian Broadcasting Company, which operated 4QG when the Australian Broadcasting Commission was formed and absorbed the company. Mrs. McGown is now record librarian in Brisbane, and Mr. Gardiner is programme executive.The microphone they are using is a Reis crystal type, which was used in Queensland in 1933 and 1934. Wartime Social Survey- Information Gathering in Wartime Britain, UK, 1944 Wartime Social Survey interviewer Margaret Thomas uses a photometer to take a light reading in the home of Mrs Bartram, in Stepney Green, London. This is part of a survey being carried out on behalf of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research as an aid to post-war planning. The aim was to examine existing lighting levels in houses and by interviewing the householder, determine how adequate this was and thus inform the lighting needs in newly built, post-war homes.
