The seating frame is scalloped, as well as the bottom of the rules of the front and back. The loose removable seat is missing.Folding chair with two birds among flowers 13th-14th century China A very rare example from the early Ming dynasty, this chair illustrates the sophisticated craftsmanship of the lacquer and furniture from the period. The folding legs are well balanced with the armrests and curved back, which together create a stable and beautiful structure. Except for the rattan seat, all surfaces of the chair are made of lacquer. In addition to the meticulously carved geometric background, the chair also features a pair of paradise flycatchers among flowers on the back panel. These would be used following the crowning of the King on St. Edward's Chair and differ for each coronation.  This pair were reproduced by Messrs Morris (William Morris) from Jacobean originals from Knole with an X-shaped back supports of beechwood and upholstery of crimson silk damask specially designed by William Morris some years before.  The silk was dyed with pure madder and wExtraordinary boutiques, shops and stores in the narrow streets of the old part of Barcelona. There is plenty of different art in every corner in the city.
