Alabaster cinerary urn. Culture: Etruscan. Dimensions: H. with cover 33 1/2 in. (85.1 cm); H. without cover 17 1/4 in. (43.8 cm); length 25 in. (63.5 cm). Date: 3rd century B.C..The reclining woman represented on the lid wears a heavy torque necklace and holds a fan in her right hand. The frieze depicts two pairs of Greeks fighting Amazons, while the Etruscan death demon Vanth stands at the right. The Amazonomachy is well known from Greek art, especially from the fourth century on, and also appears on other Etruscan works in this gallery. The inclusion of the Vanth is a characteristic Etruscan addition to the representation. Vestiges of paint survive in the eyes, shields, and belts. Museum: Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, USA.

Christ, in loincloth, carries one of the shoulders hanging together with a tire for the breast and has been beaten over the left knee. The left executioner, with mustache, carries a beret, puff pants and a shirt that has slipped from one shoulder; The other, seen on the back, opened the mouth and is dressed in a kolder with short decorative sleeves and a short skirt. Presentation Scene with Saint Peter Martyr and Three Donors ca. 1340 Giovanni di Balduccio Italian Trained in Pisa, Giovanni di Balduccio is noted for bringing the innovations of Tuscan sculptors to northern Italy. With quiet monumentality, this panel depicts the standing image of the bearded Saint Peter Martyr (d. 1252) wearing Dominican garb. The head wound, his primary attribute, is clearly visible along with a (restored) palm of martyrdom in his right hand. The saint's cloak, held open by his outstretched arms, frames three praying donor figures, while he places his hands on the heads of the oldest and the youngest of them. This relief is carved in a white fine-grained marble set into a frame of slightly coarser, grayer marble.The sculpture is one of three marble panels to survive from a tomb originally in the Milanese church of Sant'Eustorgio.
