RIO DE JANEIRO - U.S. Navy divers, assigned to Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit 2 (MDSU-2) watch as their Brazilian counterparts get ready for a dive during UNITAS LXIII, Sept. 14, 2022. UNITAS is the worlds longest-running maritime exercise. Medical and fire-rescue personnel park ambulances and set up a decontamination and triage area for a joint emergency escape and triage simulation held at Space Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida on July 24, 2019. Led by NASA with Boeing and United Launch Alliance, the simulation is one in a series in preparation for upcoming crew flights to the International Space Station as part of NASAs Commercial Crew Program. NASA astronauts Josh Cassada, currently in training for the second flight with crew aboard Boeings CST-100 Starliner spacecraft, and Eric Boe, along with astronaut candidate Jasmin Moghbeli, served as the flight crew. The astronauts practiced emergency egress from the nearly 200-foot-tall crew access tower at the launch pad. They also rehearsed escape from the launch complex in an armored vehicle, and decontamination and triage at a nearby helipad.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- At NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, paramedics and Fire Rescue personnel move a stretcher away from a helicopter after they practiced placing the "volunteer patient" aboard during a training exercise.The activity taking place in Kennedy's Launch Complex 39 turn-basin parking lot was only one of several drills. It was part of a new training program that was developed by Kennedy's Fire Rescue department along with NASA Aircraft Operations to sharpen the skills needed to help rescue personnel learn how to collaborate with helicopter pilots in taking injured patients to hospitals as quickly as possible.

NAVAL BASE GUAM (Sept. 12, 2022) - First Responders from Joint Region Marianas (JRM) Emergency Services along with Commander, Joint Region Marianas Rear Adm. Benjamin Nicholson, and U.S. Naval Base Guam (NBG) Commanding Officer Capt. Michael Luckett observed the 21st anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks during a ceremony at Fire Station 1 onboard NBG, Sept. 12. Firefighters, paramedics, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), police officers, Chief Petty Officers (CPO), and CPO Selects from throughout the region participated in the ceremony to pay tribute to the lives of 343 firefighters, 62 law enforcement officers, eight emergency medical technicians, and 2,581 civilians who were lost during the attacks.
