KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. - Gary Grigg, a survivor of the World Trade Center attack on Sept. 11, 2001, relates his experience as part of KSCs Spaceport Super Safety and Health Day. The event included other guest speakers Dr. Pamela Peeke, Navy Com. Stephen E. Iwanowicz, NASAs Dr. Kristine Calderon and Olympic-great Bruce Jenner. In addition, many vendors exhibits were on display for employees. Super Safety and Health Day was initiated at KSC in 1998 to increase awareness of the importance of safety and health among the government and contractor workforce. The theme for this years event was Safety and Health A Winning Combination.

In the IMAX Theater of the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex Cast and crew members of the upcoming motion picture "Hidden Figures" participate in a question and answer session. The movie is based on the book of the same title, by Margot Lee Shetterly. It chronicles the lives of Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson, three African-American women who worked for NASA as human "computers. Their mathematical calculations were crucial to the success of Project Mercury missions including John Glenn’s orbital flight aboard Friendship 7 in 1962. The film is due in theaters in January 2017.

All of them had been previously inducted to the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame. They came to welcome the inductees for 2006: Henry "Hank" Hartsfield Jr., Brewster H. Shaw Jr. and Charles F. Bolden Jr. The U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame now includes 63 space explorers.
