MANGILAO, Guam (Oct. 21, 2022) - Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Marianas along with the University of Guam (UOG), Guam Waterworks Authority (GWA), and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Pacific Islands Water Science Center signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), Oct. 21, which implements the One Guam Water Resources Information Program. UOG Water and Environmental Research Institute of the Western Pacific (WERI) facilitated the signing. This MOA establishes a framework, and identifies roles and responsibilities for all parties in the agreement to work towards a number of shared initiatives including collecting and sharing vital data, identifying cost-effective utility solutions, and cooperating in completing studies related to meeting the drinking water needs of Guam including the Northern Guam Lens Aquifer (NGLA) sustainability studies.The MOA is a result of a commitment entered into between Joint Region Marianas and GWA in December 2016 to explore opportunities

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District leadership met with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and Erie County today at the Scoby Dam project in Springville, NY to get an overview of the project and understand some of the challenges ahead. The Springville Dam project would restore native fish passage between the upper and lower Cattaraugus Creek watershed, while maintaining a barrier to the invasive Sea Lamprey, but was put on hold as resources shifted to overcome and respond to the impacts of COVID-19.

The burial of the USACE Charleston Districts 150th Anniversary Time Capsule. The capsule will be buried at the Cooper River Rediversion Project in St. Stephen, South Carolina. The capsule is full of various items representing the district and its employees. The 150th Anniversary Time Capsule will be opened 25 years from now in the year 2047.

Events at Main Interior and surrounding area marking 50th anniversary of the Student Conservation Association (SCA) and its National Park Service partnership, with Secretary Dirk Kempthorne, National Park Service Director Mary Bomar and Deputy Director Lyndi Harvey, Fish and Wildlife Service Director H. Dale Hall, U.S. Geological Survey Director Mark Myers, Forest Service Associate Chief Sally Collins, Washington Congressman Norman Dicks, and SCA founder Elizabeth Cushman Titus Putnam among the dignitaries joining more than 500 student environmental leaders from around the nation. Students participated in the SCA's EarthVision, a first-of-its-kind youth conservation summit.
