'Yes Madam, All Our Bread is Stamped - To cut down the illegal smuggling of much cheaper bread produced in the Communist East sector, all loaves of bread sold in the West sector are being stamped with the word 'West'. Here a Berlin housewife buys one of the stamped loaves in an American sector store.The Communists have been using the cheaper bread as a lure to many hard-pressed West Berliners who daily cross the line dividing the city to buy bread at the cheaper price. As a result, many bakers in West Berlin have been hard hit by the fall in sales. April 01, 1951.
