Cultural Artifacts and Decor

An assortment of unique cultural items, including decorative brushes and ancient jewelry, reflecting artistic traditions and craftsmanship from various eras.

Covered Vase, 18th-19th century, 8 in. (20.32 cm), White jadeite, China, 18th-19th century, This exquisite vase consists of a large lotus flower delicately supported by stems and leaves carved in the full round. As with many jade objects of this era, the wooden stand relates both in theme and style to the stone it supports. This work vividly demonstrates the technical virtuosity and artistry achieved in jade carving during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. As more showy, brightly colored jadeite was imported from Burma, a penchant for elaborately worked carvings developed. Despite the incredible hardness of jade and the enormous patience required to fashion it, the maker of this piece has created a delicate rhythm of plant forms with flawless artistry.

New Kingdom, Ramesside The cornflower and ball beads in this necklace were made by soldering wire rings of several different diameters into the desired forms. The piece is an early example of the technique known as filagree. Discovered with a cache of jewelry in the Valley of the Kings, the necklace is thought to have belonged to Tawosret, wife of the Seti II and regent for her husband's successor Siptah. Tawosret, who reigned Egypt in her own right for several years at the end of Dynasty 19, was one of the few female rulers of Egypt, the most famous of whom are Hatshepsut and Cleopatra VII.. Date: 1830-35.In the 1830s the fashionable coiffeur was hair pulled back in a high single- or double-looped chignon with dense grapelike bunches of curls at the temples. This hairstyle influenced the profile of hats of the period, which were characterized by narrow, deep, cylindrical crowns that were angled upward, and wide, face framing, halolike brims. Hat trims were particularly lavish, with the interiors of the brims, because they were exposed, also treated decoratively. This example is particularly rich in ornamentation and rare for the survival of all its embellishments. Museum: Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, USA.. From 1945 hats became smaller in reaction to the large models that had been fashionable during World War II. This hat, made by the Legroux Soeurs (Legroux sisters), famous Paris modistes, is an early example of this trend. Mrs Brusse-Urtebise bought her hats in Paris. The same model can be seen in a French magazine of October 1945.Three bows tied to a person's fingerFlat lay composition of dried white sage and wholistic healing Tibetan singing bowls Flat lay composition of dried white sage and ancient hand crafted traditional Tibetan meditation and healing singing bowls made from 7 sacred metals which are typical accessories used in buddhism, yoga and meditation Copyright: xZoonar.com/BjornxBeheydtx 14176807Christmas tree decoration, fir cone and fir branch, close_upHat of white satin with pink flowers and light blue ribbons decorated, slightly oval, flat model, anonymous, c. 1895 - c. 1900 Cat of white satin with pink flowers and light blue ribbons decorated.
