The leaf is divided into three parts: at the top a narrow straight border with floral copper sequins, underneath a wide scalloped edge with lovers in different sizes and colors, at the bottom with a flower -shaped steel sequins. The whole is trimmed with a machine edge. The back of the leaf is unadorned. The frame has 16 contiguous legs and two closing legs, all decorated with input steel lovers and golden -painted stacking ornaments. In the middle on the front of the leaf an oval medallion on which the horses of a coach water and food get to a hostel (), With links two gesticulating men and a Keeshond mid-front. The medallion is surrounded by a golden laurel wreath and on top of a gold vase or urn. The round medallion on the left is filled with two pink-red putti with a cornucopia, framed with golden garlands and awarded with two turtle doves, an arrow sleeve and a hermes staff. The round medallion right is buzzed with two pink putti with a proud spot and an area, framed with golden garlands and awarded a hunting horn and two dead pheasants. The whole is surrounded by flower garlands. The back of the leaf is unprocessed. The open frame with fifteen legs is decorated with a rectangle in which a vase Folded event. Now best known as a painter of bird and flower subjects, Baiitsualong with his lifelong companion, Nakabayashi Chikutō (1776-1853), whose fan painting can be seen nearbybegan studying old Chinese paintings as a child in his native Nagoya. After the death of their teacher in 1802, Baiitsu and Chikutō both set out for Kyoto to establish independent careers, though Baiitsu was less successful than Chikutō. The leaf is trimmed along the top edge with a strip of gold paper. On every segment between the legs, the fan is decorated from top to gang with: three horizontally placed lovers, a picture in which bundled arrows are bumped, three lovers. The 15th picture of the left is different from the rest. Below a long, stacked ornament of Volutes and Acchantus awarded flowers and ending in a point with a lover. Along the hand part, the leaf is decorated with a stacked ornament with bulbs crowned with arrows between a lover on the top and bottom. The finely detailed depiction of the fairground buildings is presented in three vignettes; the attention to detail is made evident in the depiction of the costumes worn by the strolling figures. Culture: French. Date: 1855-65.While this parasol is beautiful and of the highest quality, the handle is of particular interest and must be noted. Made of coral, it is intricately carved with fascinating imagery, especially the somewhat grotesque male face that contrasts with the playfully entwined puttee at the top. The ivory stick is made to resemble a bramble and the knots are emphasized with coral color. Coral handles, such as this, were commonly made in Italy.
