The Most Horrible Sight - A view of the terrible Policial Political Prisoners camp in Nordhausen.Terrible scenes are depicted in these pictures at a Political Prisoners camp in Nordhausen. At one time there were 3,000. Now there are about 500 of these left, consisting of Yugoslavs, Russaians and Poles, about 80-100 died each day from startation. After the guards left many of the prisoners were killed by the Volksturm when trying to escape. When the 3rd., Armoured Division 1st. April 17, 1945.

Private J.M. Liles, a member of the Signal Corps, is photographed standing in the ruins of a church in Etain, Meuse, France. The church was destroyed as a result of Allied shell fire during an attack of the 81st Division. The photo was taken on March 1, 1919, and shows the view towards the altar.

The Evacuation of Fort Sumter April 1861 Osborn's Gallery American This exceptional early war carte-de-visite album inscribed "The Evacuation of Fort Sumter" was given by an unknown donor to a "Mrs. Crawford Washington" in 1862. It includes sixteen cartes de visite of Fort Sumter and the other batteries lining Charleston Harbor. On the inside front cover is a period inscription: These photographs were taken immediately after the evacuation of Fort Sumter by the U.S. Troops under Anderson, April 1861. Two of the photographsincluding a study of Confederate soldiers sitting in the rubble of the fortare the work of Osborn’s Gallery, of Charleston. J. M. Osborn was a partner of the firm of Osborn and Durbec’s Southern Stereoscopic and Photographic Depot.
