London, England, United Kingdom. Local Government Board Office, in Charles Street, Westminster. A dynamite cartridge exploded on the ground floor of the Office five minuts past 9 on the evening of 15 March 1883. The explosion wrecked a room, broke much glass and caused other damage in the neighbourhood. No person was injured. Effects of the explosion on the door and the first room inside. On August 28th, the Japanese army bombed Shanghai South Railway Station, causing more than 200 people to die, and countless injured. Pictured is a child covered in blood crying after the bombing. This picture was spread to the world, igniting anti-Japanese sentiments. This was during the Japanese invasion of China.

The shell-torn rear gunner's compartment of Handley Page Hampden Mark I, P1355 'OL-W', of No. 83 Squadron RAF photographed at Scampton, Lincolnshire, on the morning after returning from a night attack on invasion barges at Antwerp, Holland. It was during this sortie that the wireless operator/air gunner of the Hampden's crew, Flight Sergeant John Hannah, earned the award of the Victoria Cross for his bravery when the aircraft was severely damaged and set on fire.

Sabotage At Grenoble - In a speech made to the consultative Assembly, on March 2nd, 1944, M. Emmanuel d'Asbier de La Vigerie, Commissar for the Interior, in the French Committee for National Liberation said: "During the last months of the year 1943, without any doubt, Grenoble has won the first piece in French resistance. "The Sabotage of the Artillery Park at Grenoble on the night of the 13/14th November was the high spot of the resistance movement in that town during November. Detonations were put in position near some 30 tons of powder and 300 tons of ammunition and at oh. 40m on the 14th the powder blew up. March 20, 1944.

The Korean War (25 June 1950 - armistice signed 27 July 1953) was a military conflict between the Republic of Korea, supported by the United Nations, and North Korea, supported by the People's Republic of China (PRC), with military material aid from the Soviet Union. The war was a result of the physical division of Korea by an agreement of the victorious Allies at the conclusion of the Pacific War at the end of World War II. The Korean peninsula was ruled by Japan from 1910 until the end of World War II. Following the surrender of Japan in 1945, American administrators divided the peninsula along the 38th Parallel, with United States troops occupying the southern part and Soviet troops occupying the northern part. The failure to hold free elections throughout the Korean Peninsula in 1948 deepened the division between the two sides, and the North established a Communist government. The situation escalated into open warfare when North Korean forces invaded South Korea on 25 June 1950. It

Graves Of Greek Victims Line Highway -- The graves of 49 Greeks, slain by the Germans for a reason still unrevealed, line the main highway leading north from the city of Levadeia in southern Greece. The grave in the foreground has been marked off by sorrowing relatives who erected the white picket fence and placed a photograph of the victim on a stand. The bombing of Nagasaki. The city is only one of two atomic bomb targets in history so far. Codenamed 'Fat Man', the bomb killed 40,000 instantly and achieved a final death toll of nearly 74,000 and almost 75,000 injuries. Although more powerful than the 'Little Boy' bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima, Nagasaki's rough terrain meant the damage was reduced.
