March 2016 flooding event broke records and is certainly historic. In the early days of March 2016, a historic inches of rain fell on an area with countless bayous, rivers and streams. Over 3,000 families' homes are in low-lying areas so they are left with massive emotional and financial losses. Another 800 families have been displaced. As a category 4 hurricane Katrina caused extensive damage all along the Mississippi gulf coast. Hurricane Camille was one of the few category 5 hurricanes to strike the US mainland.
