Davies Reprieved - Sisters Bring Forward New Evidence -- A close-up of the telegram sent to Mrs. Davies informing her of her son's reprieve. 26 year-old Joyce Davies, his sister, has ***** busy collecting information which she has passed on to the ***** police and has made a statement. A copy of her evidence ***** also been sent to the Home Secretary.The Home Secretary today recommended a reprieve for Michael John Davies, aged 21, who was sentenced to death at the Old Bailey, London, on October 22 for the murder on Clapham Common, London, of John Ernest Beckley, aged 17. Beckley died after stab wounds in a fight with a number of youths on the Common on July 2. Davies will now serve a term of life imprisonment. January 21, 1954. (Photo by Daily Mail Contract).
