Papyrus inscribed with an account and a religious text ca. 1961-1917 B.C. Middle Kingdom Fragment of a larger document, bearing an account on one side and a religious text, perhaps a spell, on the other. The account lists a number of names with their filiation along with amounts of grain. A line at the bottom of the text suggests that another account was written below it. The text on the other side addresses Seth in his epithet of the Lord of Su and asks that the enemy of the speaker may not exist. The texts were are written by two different hands, the account with small, neat and cursive signs, while the religious text with a rather large, archaic and non-cursive handwriting. The papyrus was found in a tomb along with two other documents, one of which bears the name Harhotep, but the three may very well be unrelated to each other.. Plaque from a Foundation Deposit of Senwosret I ca. 1961-1917 B.C. Middle Kingdom Excavators from the Metropolitan Museum found intact three of the four foundation deposits under Senwosret Is pyramid. They contained pottery and food offerings along with small rectangular tablets that commemorated the name of the king and his monument, which in this case was called “The pyramid: Senwosret is viewing the Two Lands.” The phrase seems to suggest a combined identity of pyramid and king that would protect the country.. Tomb KV9 in Egypt's Valley of the Kings was originally constructed by Pharaoh Ramesses V. He was interred here, but his uncle, Ramesses VI, later reused the tomb as his own. The layout is typical of the 20th dynasty - the Ramesside period 1145 BC

Tumba Amonemhat (53).

A reproduction of one the last pages of the funeral papyrus of Queen Makara. The manuscript would have been buried along with the body and contained prayers and invocations to be recited by the deceased person when passing through to the afterlife. Date: 4th Feb 1882

Sandstone stela inscribed in Meroitic script. Found in a ruined building south of Meroe. It is largely indecipherable but the names of Queen Amanirenas and prince Akinidad are recognisable. These rulers lived during the late 1st centum BC, at the time of Meroes conflict with the Romans. It has therefore been suggested that the stela was set up to commemorate the Mereitic raid on the First Cataract region under Roman occupation in 24 BC.
