Photo album with recordings of Cameroon around 1899; Sammelalbum. Photo album in red linen band with the word "Samme album" in gold print on the front. The ridge is decorated with a geometric motif, also in gold pressure. The album contains 28 sheets of red cut and a total of 35 photos, of which 7 were found loose. The majority has German-language captions. The recordings were made in Cameroon around 1899 when the country was partly colonized by the German empire. They are studio portraits of local Cameroon Persons, Van Government and District Buildings and their environment, from trade accounts and plantations with (presumably) German planters and landscapes. Possibly the album can be associated with Handelshuis C. Woermann that has been training with Cameroon since 1868 and had factories. The current city of Duala is meant to be the current city of Duala with the indication used in the captions used in the captions.

Love's Melancholy 1866 United States. Constant Mayer specialized in sentimental scenes of everyday life yet he also displayed a fidelity to nature that harmonized with the detailed landscapes painted by contemporary artists known as the Pre-Raphaelites. The young womanís black dress, solemn disposition, and wedding ring signal a state of mourning. A church steeple in the background symbolizes her faith and purity, while the vegetation and stonework in the foreground suggest that she stands near her loved oneís grave. The golden lighting, low vantage point, and the figureís windblown hair contribute to the air of introspection. Executed just after the Civil War, Loveís Melancholy resonated with the American public, who likely came to know the painting through a color reproduction that was produced and distributed by 1869..
