CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - A technician in the cab of crawler-transporter 2, or CT-2, drives along the crawlerway toward the Vehicle Assembly Building at NASAs Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The Ground Systems Development and Operations Program completed a roller bearing assembly test on CT-2 truck sections A and C. The left- and right-hand steering was tested in both directions. The temperature of the roller assemblies was monitored and recorded. Engineers and technicians performed visual inspections of the roller bearing pumps, valves and lines to ensure that the grease injectors worked properly and provided the required flow of grease to the new roller assemblies. Work continues in high bay 2 to upgrade CT-2. The modifications are designed to ensure CT-2s ability to transport launch vehicles currently in development, such as the agencys Space Launch System, to the launch pad. A pair of behemoth machines called crawler-transporters has carried the load of taking rockets and spacecraft to the launch pad for more than 40 years at NASAs Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Supply routes for Stabilization Force (SFOR), Personnel have to be in good condition to allow freedom of movement in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Many bridges are downgraded by Stabilization Force (SFOR), Engineers due to various safety reasons. A bridge in Doboj, failed an inspection due to heavy traffic flow. The solution to the problem is the Mabey and Johnson Bridge which is to be built by the Hungarian Engineering Contingent. The project has been on going since September and is expected to be completed November 21, 1998. Today the Hungarians latched decking sections on the Bridges skeleton that will enable travel across the Bosnia river. CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - Modifications continue on the Mobile Launcher, or ML, at the Mobile Launcher Park Site at NASAs Kennedy Space Center in Florida. A crane is in place to lift a new steel beam for installation on the ML structure. The ML is being modified and strengthened to accommodate the weight, size and thrust at launch of NASA's Space Launch System, or SLS, and Orion spacecraft.In 2013, the agency awarded a contract to J.P. Donovan Construction Inc. of Rockledge, Fla., to modify the ML, which is one of the key elements of ground support equipment that is being upgraded by the Ground Systems Development and Operations Program at Kennedy. The existing 24-foot exhaust hole is being enlarged and strengthened for the larger, heavier SLS rocket. The ML will carry the SLS rocket and Orion spacecraft to Launch Pad 39B for its first uncrewed mission, Exploration Mission-1, in 2018.

The crawler-transporter is undergoing testing at Launch Pad 39A to check out recently completed modifications to ensure its ability to carry launch vehicles such as the space agency's Space Launch System heavy-lift rocket to the pad.NASA's Ground Systems Development and Operations Program is leading the 20-year life-extension project for the crawler. A pair of behemoth machines called crawler-transporters has carried the load of taking rockets and spacecraft to the launch pad for more than 40 years at NASAs Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Each weighing six and a half million pounds and larger in size than a professional baseball infield, the crawler-transporters are powered by locomotive and large electrical power generator engines. Soldiers from units within the 149th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade began transporting water from the Trade Water River to Old City Lake, near Marion. Army Palletized Load System (PLS) vehicles transported non-potable storage tanks daily with the goal of moving up to 80,000 gallons of water to the reservoir to minimize decreasing lake concerns. In addition, bottled water was also distributed at the Old Marion Armory to town residents.
