In Norse mythology, Frigga, also spelled Frigg, is the wife of Odin. Originally a Germanic earth-goddess, she came to be associated with the Scandinavian Freyja and thus was worshiped as a goddess of fertility and love. From her similarities with Venus, the Latin day dedicated to Venus came to be known in Germanic-speaking countries as Frigg's Day or Friday.
