Buffalo District Mount Morris Dam experts hosted a meeting in Mount Morris, NY to discuss the Dam's capabilities and how it reduces flooding impacts down stream of the dam. Here the attendees  are asking questions while experts Keith Koralewski (Chief Hydraulics & Hydrology and Water Management Section) and Steven Winslow (MMD Park Ranger) listen attentively. June 7, 2022.This opportunity allowed USACE employees to hear concerns from the public.The Dam has successfully prevented ~$3.9B in flood damages since construction and operates as a 'dry-bed dam', meaning water is only impounded when a risk of flooding is forecast - Otherwise, 'run-of-river' flows are maintained.

Craig Fugate and team checked out the inside of an aircraft - one that literally flies into the eye of the storm to collect and transmit data. The data gets routed via satellite to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida where forecasters use it to analyze and predict storm changes..
