NASAs TEMPO instrument, the first Earth Venture Instrument mission, will measure air pollution across North America from Mexico City to the Canadian oil sands and from the Atlantic to the Pacific hourly and at a high spatial resolution. A partnership between NASA and the Center for Astrophysics Harvard & Smithsonian, TEMPO will launch on a commercial satellite to geostationary orbit as early as April.

Also known as the Global Week for Future, a series of international strikes and protests to demand action be taken to address climate change. The 20 September protests were likely the largest climate strikes in world history. Organisers reported that over 4 million people participated in strikes worldwide, including 300000 people joined UK protests. Greta Thunberg, (born 3 January 2003), Swedish environmental activist, credited with raising global awareness of the risks posed by climate change, and with holding politicians to account for their lack of action on the climate crisis.
