The caption for this illustration reads: And Horse Shoe Robinson put his horse to a gallop. It is from the 1835 novel, an historical romance set during the American Revolution titled Horse Shoe Robinson by John P Kennedy. A Tale of the Tory Ascendency, it was a popular seller in its day. The novel was Kennedy's second, and proved to be his most popular.
