Soldiers with the 390th Engineer Company work the "coal field fill" troop project July 26, 2022, at Fort McCoy, Wis. Fort McCoy Troop Projects Coordinator Larry Morrow with the Directorate of Public Works said the team of 390th Soldiers moved nearly 3,000 tons of dirt to cover an old coal field. The project area is in the Fort McCoy rail area next to State Highway 21 on the installations South Post. The combat engineers who are based out of Chattanooga, Tenn., were at Fort McCoy for the Army Reserves and 78th Training Divisions Warrior Exercise 78-22-02.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - At NASAs Kennedy Space Center in Florida, a new 12-inch water main is being installed as part of a water/wastewater revitalizing plan. The main will provide water to the area around the shuttle landing facility's Landing Aids Control Building and fire station.NASAs space shuttle runway is a unique national asset designed to enable the recovery of the agencys fleet of space shuttle orbiters. The shuttle landing facility is a single, 15,000-foot long concrete runway oriented to the southeast and northwest. Air traffic control is provided from a control tower built to FAA standards. Fire and emergency response services are also available from an onsite facility.

A contractor completes exterior grading and landscaping work Aug. 29, 2022, as part of construction operations related to the fiscal year 2020-funded transient training troops barracks project at Fort McCoy, Wis. The $18.8 million project was awarded to L.S. Black Constructors, which is the contractor who built the first barracks building at Fort McCoy, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Resident Office at Fort McCoy. The new contract was awarded Sept. 29, 2020, and the notice to proceed was issued Oct. 28, 2020. The contract duration is scheduled for completion in 780 calendar days. Currently contract completion is scheduled for December 2022. The barracks is different than the traditional barracks located throughout the installation. This new building will be four stories and able to house 400 people in approximately 60,000 square feet. The project also is part of the Fort McCoy Master Plan that looks at continuously upgrading the installations infrastructure to be prepare

Work by contractors with JMJ Construction of New Lisbon, Wis., to place World War II-era buildings on new foundation areas is shown Jan. 4, 2024, at Fort McCoy, Wis. Overall, four buildings were moved previously on in the spring of 2023. The contractors relocated and repaired four barracks buildings, according to the Fort McCoy Directorate of Public Works. The plan was to relocate the buildings to the new locations, lift them onto the new foundations and complete the remaining work by the end of 2023. This was the first time in Fort McCoy's history that barracks buildings were moved and saved like this. The buildings were originally constructed in 1942 when the New Camp at then-Camp McCoy was built during World War II.
