Movie Picture Industry In India: According to Ellis R. Dungan, the only American among the over 200 film producers and director in India, the technical quality of motion pictures in India is on a surprisingly high level. India ranks third, after U.S.A. and U.S.S.R. in consumption of raw film and employs about 70,000 people in production, distribution, exhibition, publicity, etc. Due to the quantity of produced in several vernaculars and their use is restricted to specific areas. Most widely used are Hindi, Bengali, Tamil and Telugu. Indian film standards are different from American and European. Acting and dialogue are less important than good and plentiful singing.
