Twenty-six nations, 38 ships, three submarines, more than 170 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 29 to Aug. 4 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The worlds largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the worlds oceans. RIMPAC 2022 is the 28th exercise in the series that began in 1971.

The EOD flight was previously designated as the 647th EOD flight from 1992 to 2022 and transitioned into a Hawaii Air National Guard asset under the 154th Wing. The facility is named in honor of Senior Airman William N. Newman, who was the second, Hickam-based EOD Airman who was killed in action.

CAMP LEMONNIER, Djibouti (April 2, 2022) Forward deployed members of U.S. Arrmy Task Force Red Dragon, Combined Joint Task Force, Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA) serving on Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti (CLDJ) participate in Running with the Goats 5K/3k Run/Walk, hosted by the CLDJ Chiefs Mess, that started and finished at the base Goat Locker. CLDJ serves as an expeditionary base for U.S. military forces providing support to ships, aircraft and personnel that ensure security throughout Europe, Africa and Southwest Asia. CLDJ enables maritime and combat operations in the Horn of Africa while fostering positive U.S.-Africa relations.

This week the Iron Eagles public affairs team attended the annual public affairs symposium in Wiesbaden, Germany. For A Year of Lessons Learned” there they heard from keynote speakers such as Former USAREUR Commander Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Ben Hodges, DCG for USAREUR-AF” Lt. Gen. Andrew Rohling, and Army Chief of Public Affairs” Maj. Gen. John Rafferty. Throughout the symposium the teams spoke on many topics covering everything from Russia/Ukraine to the 2023 communication strategy. Big things are in store for the future of Army communications

Williamson signed the Domestic Violence Awareness Month proclamation in Ross Theater before taking a photo with Great Lakes base leadership. The concept of Domestic Violence Awareness Month began as a "Day of Unity" in October 1981, and soon after evolved into an entire week. In 1987, the first monthly observance took place. Two years later Congress passed a law officially designating October as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
