Wenshu Yuan (Wenshu Temple) dates back to the Tang Dynasty (June 18, 618-June 4, 907), and was originally known as Xinxiang Temple. It is now a popular Zen Buddhist temple. Chengdu, known formerly as Chengtu, is the capital of Sichuan province in Southwest China. In the early 4th century BCE, the 9th Kaiming king of the ancient Shu moved his capital to the city's current location from today's nearby Pixian.

The Ramakien is the Thai version of the Indian epic, the Ramayana or the 'Romance of Rama', and has an important influence on Thai literature, art and drama. It is regarded as the National Epic of Thailand. Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha); full official name Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram is regarded as the most sacred Buddhist temple in Thailand. It is located within the precincts of the Grand Palace. The Grand Palace served as the official residence of the Kings of Thailand from the 18th century onwards. Construction of the Palace began in 1782, during the reign of King Rama I, when he moved the capital across the river from Thonburi to Bangkok.

Wat Pong Sanuk Tai or 'The Monastery of the Southern Fun Marsh' was built in the late 18th century combining Burmese and Lanna styles of architecture. The temple's mondop is one of the finest examples of its type and is a marvelous blend of Lanna and Burmese workmanship. Lampang was originally founded during the 7th century Dvaravati period. Nothing remains from these early times, but the city is rich in temples, many of which have a distinctly Burmese flavour as Lampang had a substantial Burmese population in the 19th century, most of whom were involved in the logging industry.
