An aircrew with the 106th Aviation Regiment, Illinois Army National Guard, takes part in Army modernization efforts at Fort McCoy, Wis., on Aug. 4, 2022, by operationally testing the UH-60V Black Hawk helicopter while preparing for an upcoming deployment. As the newest helicopter introduced into the Armys inventory, the UH-60V began fielding to the 106th in 2021 following the units selection as the Armys first unit to be equipped with the new Black Hawk. According to the U.S. Army Operational Test Command, aviators, crewmembers, and support personnel with the 106th were at Fort McCoy operationally testing the UH-60V Blackhawk helicopter July 28 to Aug. 5, 2022. The 106th completed their testing operations from the Sparta-Fort McCoy Airport. Victor model testing completes a 24-month process from conception to reality for the Illinois Guard unit, U.S. Army Operational Test Command officials said.

This week the Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Armored Division Participated in the  Rotor 23' joint exercise along with the Polish 25th Air Calvary Brigade. The activity was designed to strengthen air movement interoperability between the two countries. The Defense & Security Expo Korea is a week-long land forces exposition where the latest combat equipment is displayed. The expo is at the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX). Burleson discussed what the future looks like for land forces and what is required to be successful in future ground combat operations. He stressed the never-ending need to maintain readiness through training. The general and staff got to tour the expo. The event also featured a variety of Eighth Army assets to include UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters, a AH-64 Apache, Bradley Fighting Vehicle, a Stryker and Paladin 155mm Howitzer. The expo continues through Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022.
