New York, New York:  November 10, 1928. Jack Chevigny of Notre Dame makes a twenty five yard gain in the game against Army at Yankee Stadium. Earlier Knute Rockne had give his famous, 'Win One For The Gipper' speech, and when Chevigny  later scored a touchdown to tie the game, he said, 'That's one for the Gipper.' Notre Dame won, 12-6. Chevigny later died at the battle of Iwo Jima in World War II.

The first half was closely contested, the scores when the whistie scores being England 4. Australia 3. In the second half, however, the visitors ran away from the home team, and the contest ended in favour of the Englishmen by 22 to 3 (a try by Aynsley). The principal feature of the play was the superb kicking of England's 19-year-old full-back, J. Sullivan. June 25, 1924.
