Ghetto Nuovo Venice / Cannaregio The ghetto in Venice is located in the Cannaregio district. It was the completed residential area for the Jewish population in Venice since the 1696th century until its abolition in 1796. It is the name of all ghettos of this era. Most of the 286 Jews still living in the Ghetto during fascism were deported by the German occupiers of Italy from 1943 and mostly murdered.
