World's Biggest Ship's Funnel -- A close-up of the Caronia showing the final section of the worlds largest funnel being hoisted into position on the structure, at the Clydebank.The final section of what is believed to be the largest funnel ever built was fitted at Clydebank shipyards on August 26th, on the new Cunard White Star liner Caronia which all consistent dollar earners. Now in the last stages of construction at Messrs John Brown and Co's fitting-out basin, the liner will go into commission a few months hence. Thousands of Americans will travel on her both across the Atlantic and on cruises. August 27, 1948.
