Autumn trip from Smaleel 1 that consists of Hr.Ms. De Ruyter (the flagship), Hr.Ms. Amsterdam, Hr.Ms. Holland (from November 11), Hr.Ms. Rotterdam, Hr.Ms. Sea lion, hr.ms. The bitter (between 8 and 22 November) and Hr.Ms. The inhabitant of Zeeland. A portion of the squadron departed from Den Helder, another part from Rotterdam. The journey went VA Brest, Gibraltar, Livorno, La Spezia, Lerici, La Specia, Gibraltar, Falmouth, Plymouth and Portland back to Den Helder. Three Dutch naval people enjoy the beautiful weather and the view during passenger.

British Empire Exhibition 1924 - lifeboat fom the SS Trevessa. On 4th June 1923, the Hain Line steamer Trevessa, heading from western Australia and loaded with zinc concentrates, sank 1,700 miles from shore. Thirty four of the 44 crew survived a 23-day lifeboat ordeal, until coming ashore on Rodriguez Island near Mauritius. Date: circa 1924

British Canals in Wartime- Transport in Britain, 1944 A young girl daughter of a canal boatman, turns the handle of a lock, somewhere along the Grand Union Canal. She is winding up the paddles to let the water from the top level fill the lock and raise the boats. The original caption states that 'Each time a pair of boats goes up or down, they use a lock of water (5,600gals). Water is saved by sending boats through alternately in opposite directions. When a pair of boats has just gone up, the lock is full for a pair descending'.
