The Dutch Coastal Lizard (1957-1998). IMO 5209883. Ship has sailed under the name Lizard until 1973. From 1973 to 1998 the ship was called Mikonos II.

Imperial Airways Ship Crashes At Toronto - Members of the crew on the wing as the boat drifted to a stop.The Imperial Airways flying boat Cambria, which has successfully crossed the Atlantic Ocean three times, crashed in her landing at Toronto, Canada, September 3rd, when the gaint craft hit a floating landing, tearing a hole in one pontoon. The freighter that sank alongside a wharf following a disastrous fire in an Australian port now has been raised and towed to shallow water. At high tide, the keel and part of the hull of the freighter are showing above the water. She looks like a partly submerged whale. The ship will not go to sea again. RMS Titanic lifeboat no 6 approaches rescue ship Carpathia This photograph (COPY 1/566) shows one of the lifeboats from the Titanic making its way towards the rescue ship Carpathia on 15 April, 1912. The Titanic set sail from Southampton on her maiden voyage on Wednesday 10 April, 1912, on course for New York. Late on the night of Sunday 14 April she struck an iceberg and sank less than three hours later. Only 705 people were rescued from over 2,200 on board, most of them cabin class passengers. The British government investigated the incident to find out what went wrong, which is how The National Archives has ended up with many documents like this related to the Titanic. New safety regulations were rapidly introduced after the accident, like a new regulation in 1913 that required all vessels to carry enough lifeboats for every passenger. The journey went VA Brest, Gibraltar, Livorno, La Spezia, Lerici, La Specia, Gibraltar, Falmouth, Plymouth and Portland back to Den Helder. In the distance, Hr.Ms pass. Amsterdam, Hr.MS Rotterdam, Hr.Ms. De Zeeuw and Hr.Ms. Sea lion the rock of Gibraltar.

Eastwind Lifeboat Drill, Deep Freeze 1961. A manned motor surfboat released over the side of the 269-ft. U. S. Coast Guard icebreaker Eastwind hits the crest of a wave with a breathtaking splash. Accustomed to lifeboat drills as a matter of routine, some of the crew grin through the spray hitting their faces; the coxswain holds a firm stand at the tiller. Coast Guard Rescues Four in Atlantic. After five days adrift in the Atlantic Gulf Stream off the Florida Coast, occupants of a 23-foot cruiser from Miami wait for rescue. This photograph was made by Photographers Mate Clarence H. Meyer, USCG, from a Coast Guard search plane.
