Silver; diameter: 1.9 cm (3/4 in.). The lion, king of the beasts and an animal associated with regal and heroic power, featured prominently on the coinage of many ancient Greek city-states. Artists placed the lion in a variety of poses, sometimes including the whole body, at other times the foreparts or just the head. Although it may once have roamed nearby, for many Greeks the lion was a monster nearly as exotic as the Chimaera, of which it formed a part, together with a goat head and snake-headed tail.Carnavalet Museum, Medals CollectionMedal Commemorating MasonicCentennial. Artist: UnknownCatti Stater: Tree Symbol on Plain Field (obverse); Horse and Wheel (reverse), AD 20-45. England (Ancient Britain), Dobunni. Gold; diameter: 2 cm (13/16 in.). This piece comes from Dobunni territory, the tribe occupying an area in the Cotswold (Severn estuary) country. The names found on them are probably those of chieftains rather than of kings. Names such as Catti, Antedrig, Inam, and Comux appear on various pieces, all names unknown in history. The horse has now become crude on his journey to the wilder parts of the country, but the wheel of the lost chariot remains.Double Determen in the name of the VOC and the city of Utrecht with Jaartal1790, Willem II (King of the Netherlands), 1840 - 1843 coin Copper mint.
