Prime Minister Visits Normandy Front - The Prime Minister sees a dogfight in which an enemy raidor was destroyed. L to R - Mr. Churchill, Gen. Smuts, Gen. Montgomery and Sir Alan Brooko.The Prime Minister visited travelled to France in a destroyer and spent several hours ashore on 12.6.44. He visited H.Q. and toured part of the bridgehead in a jeep. He was given a whole hearted welcome by the troops. Later he toured various parts of the water front in a motor boat. Quiet follows a dramatic incident. A British officer of the Welch Fusiliers halts his men in the Nanking-road shortly after a Chinese student had flung a hand-grenade into a column of troops during the Japanese victory march" through Shanghai. The student was killed in the pandemonium that followed. Note the Japanese sentries on the right with their bayonets fixed. January 7, 1938.

Sheik Fahran Saadi, Arab leader, is sentenced to death. Saadi, or Sadi, was captured near Jenin and was sentenced to death by the British military court for in Haifa for terrorism. He was hanged in prison. SheikhFarhan al-Saadi(circa 1862 - 27 November 1937) was a Palestinian rebel commander during the1936-1939 Arab revolt in Palestine. He participated in national conferences and demonstrations against the British Mandate of Palestine, and in the1929 Palestine riots. He is thought to have been the first to use a weapon during the revolt.

The Arm Of The Law.... -- Weighs down on the head of a demonstrator who got a little too excited outside the old Bailey court, London April 17. He was one of a great crowd, mostly dockers, which messed outside the court for what was expected to be the last day of the trail of the seven dockers accused of the inciting strikes. Three German Civilians Executed-First Pictures -- A Catholic priest kneels in prayer before Mathias Gierens, delivering the last sacrements, before the black hood is placed over his head and the executioner carries out sentence. Three German civilians, the first war criminals to be tried in Germany, were hanged at dawn on June 29, at the Military prison at Rhinebach.
