Liberation Forces Sharpen Up For The Kill. Months of invasion practice from U.S. Coast Guard and Navy-manned landing craft preceded the historic blow against the French coast to smash Germany's domination of Europe. Here, Yankee fighters go aboard Coast Guard-manned LCIL s (landing craft infantry, large) for final invasion maneuvers somewhere on the English coast. Thousands of invasion craft, covered by 11,000 plane, opened the liberation drive.
