. 1/7 Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment Lt Acworth was gazetted to 7 Worcestershire Regiment on 26 April 1917 and left for France on 27 June. Aged 19, he was wounded at Passchendaele on 9 October 1917 and died in hospital on 13 October. He is buried at Dozinghem Military Cemetery. Yasuhide Kurihara (17 November 1908 - 12 July 1936) was an Imperial Japanese Army officer who was a conspirator in the February 26 Incident in 1936. He graduated in the 41st class of the Imperial Japanese Army Academy in 1929. In the February 26 Incident, he failed assassination of Japanese Prime Minister, Keisuke Okada. He was executed by firing squad in the Army prison in Shibuya

Captain John Allen Midgett. Captain John Allen Midgett, Keeper of U.S. Coast Guard Lifeboat Station No. 179, N.C., during World War I, led a boat crew to the assistance of survivors of the British tanker Mirlo, torpedoed by a German submarine off the coast of North Carolina. The tanker was carrying a cargo of gasoline and refined oil from New Orleans to Norfolk, when the attack occurred five miles off shore or the Coast Guard Station causing a tremendous explosion and fire. Midgett ran a boat through flaming waters and smoke, rescuing six men. Nineteen others were found in a missing boat. The Master of the tanker and sixteen men were met by Midgett as he and his boat crew rowed toward the tanker. They made it to shore without help.
