British Medical Services in the Second World War Medical Transport: A patient is unstrapped from a jeep, which is fitted with litters for carrying the wounded. The patient is then carried into the operating theatre of a Field Surgical Unit (FSU) currently housed in a much bombed Italian prison, December 1943.

The single prototype tank built by Chrysler in the summer of 1944 that had a 90mm gun T26 turret mounted on an M4A3 chassis. The T26 and M4 tanks had the same turret ring. The project was canceled by the Ordnance Dept. after it became apparent that this tank still needed to be tested, would not likely arrive in the combat theater any sooner than the T26 tank, and would most likely interfere with the T26 production effort.

Royal Air Force Bomber Command, 1942-1945. Trolleys loaded with 500-lb GP and MC bombs, and their attendant armourers, are towed by tractors from the Bomb Store at Snaith, Yorkshire, towards aircraft dispersals on the northern side of the airfield, and the awaiting Handley Page Halifaxes of No. 51 Squadron RAF which were operating in support of the Allied Armies in Normandy.

Captioned: "Crossing the 38th parallel. United Nations forces withdraw from Pyongyang, the North Korean capital. They recrossed the 38th parallel." After WWII the 38th parallel was established and divided the Korean peninsula roughly in the middle. In 1948, this parallel became the boundary between the newly created countries of North Korea and South Korea. On June 25, 1950, the Korean War began when soldiers from the North Korean People's Army crossed the 38th parallel, the boundary between the Soviet-backed Democratic People's Republic of Korea to the north and the pro-Western Republic of Korea to the south. This invasion was the first military action of the Cold War. By July, American troops had entered the war on South Korea's behalf. After some early back-and-forth across the 38th parallel, the fighting stalled and casualties mounted with nothing to show for them.
