Naval battle of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, (Costa Brava, Catalonia). The presence of the French fleet was a constant threat to the port of Barcelona. Oil on canvas, The actual title of the image is unknown, painted in 1836 by Auguste Mayer, it is suggested that the information about the painting was lost during WWII and it was given incorrect background and title when recovered.The ship in the foreground on right is the British 2nd-rate Sandwich, not present at Trafalgar, actually being hulked for harbour duty at the time. It is therefore generally held that the Sandwich is actually the British 2nd-rate Temeraire, incorrectly titled by the artist, and the dismasted ship in foreground left is the French 74-gun 3rd-rate Redoutable.Research shows that the French ship in the foreground is actually Bucentaure, as the figurehead is that of Bucentaure, the ship is a two-decker fitting the description and design of Bucentaure and the men clustered around the mainmast fit with the events aboard the Bucentaure during the battle.

Wherein Turks under the command of Lala Mustafa Pasha landed unopposed near Limassol on July 2, and laid siege to Nicosia. van barentzs voyages by Gerrit de veer 1598 the walrus hunt. Willem Barentsz (William Barents or Barentz) (c. 1550 20 June 1597) Dutch navigator, cartographer, and Arctic explorer. He went on three expeditions to the far north in search for a Northeast passage. During his third expedition, the crew was stranded on Nova Zembla for almost a year. Barentsz died on the return voyage in 1597. In the 19th century, the Barents Sea was named after him.

The Battle of Terheide. Between 1652 and 1674, three naval wars were fought with England - the so-called Anglo-Dutch Wars. This painting represents the Battle of Terheide on 10 August 1653. In the centre is the largest vessel in the Dutch fleet, the Brederode, commanded by Admiral Maerten Harpertsz Tromp. It is firing its cannons at an English ship. The Dutch Republic won the battle but lost its commander Tromp, who was fatally wounded.

The Explosion of the Spanish Flagship in the Battle of Gibraltar April 25th 1607 by Cornelis Claesz van Wieringen. n 1621 the Admiralty of Amsterdam decided to commission a painting commemorating the Battle of Gibraltar that took place in 1607. This battle, in which the Dutch squadron had destroyed the Spanish fleet in the Bay of Gibraltar, was the first major Dutch naval victory in the Eighty Years War.
